During Campus Service Interruptions

Learning Technology

The University of North Carolina at Greensboro supports a variety of tools available for use during unforeseen disruptions. For more information on the UNCG-supported tools and services please visit the Learning Technology website, or contact your department’s Academic Technology Specialist (ATS) to learn about unit-specific applications.

Adobe Creative Cloud

Adobe Creative Cloud is a set of applications and services used for graphic design, video editing, web development, and photography. In an emergency closure situation, faculty and staff would still have access to these tools to create materials whereas students would not since their access is limited to campus computer labs.

Canvas

Canvas provides a platform for instructors to share materials with students, as well as facilitate synchronous and asynchronous communication and collaboration. Canvas also integrates with other tools you can use to support unexpected disruptions, such as video conferencing, Office 365 and LibGuides.

Google Suite

A suite of tools designed to empower educators and students to learn and innovate together.

  • Gmail: Log in to Spartan Mail.
  • Google Drive: Access your UNCG Google Drive.
  • Calendar: Share calendars or create a joint calendar with members of your class or institution to keep track of schedules easily.
  • Docs, Sheets, and Slides: Collaborate, share feedback and work together with your students in real-time on documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.
  • Forms: Create Forms, Quizzes, and surveys to collect and analyze responses with the help of machine learning.
  • Jamboard: Sketch and collaborate on an interactive canvas with Jamboard, Google’s cloud-based smartboard, on your computer, phone or tablet.
  • Sites: An easy-to-use web builder to create sites, host course curriculum, build development skills and unleash students’ creativity.
  • Hangouts Meet: Connect with students virtually via secure video calls and messaging so that learning can continue outside of school.
  • YouTube: Upload on-demand unlisted videos to your channel. Log in with your UNCG credentials.

Library Resources

The University Libraries offer electronic textbooks, physical and e-reserves available for your course.

Microsoft Office 365

Office 365 is the cloud-based Microsoft productivity suite that provides access to Office applications (like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote) and other classroom tools.

MyCloud Software

MyCloud is a UNCG service that offers access to applications and virtual computer desktops over the internet. It provides access to a full computer desktop environment that contains much of the software used for academic and research purposes. Please review this list of software applications to learn what is and is not available via MyCloud.

UTLC Production Suite

The Production Suite at 1100 West Market Street delivers cutting-edge technology to engage learners in a wide range of media. Utilize our one-button video, podcast or lightboard studios to create asynchronous, on-demand resources.

Respondus Monitor and LockDown Browser

Respondus LockDown Browser is an application that prevents students from accessing other websites, tools, and resources while taking online tests and quizzes. Respondus Monitor uses the student’s webcam to create a recording of the student’s behavior while they’re taking the test.
